There’s no shortage of adventure in Chattanooga. Whether you're hiking sun-kissed trails, getting up close with the mesmerizing aquatic life at the Tennessee Aquarium, diving into curated exhibits at the Hunter Museum of American Art, or strolling the bustling downtown streets, the Scenic City never disappoints.

But lately, there’s another reason travelers are flocking to Chattanooga: the BOOMING craft beer scene!

Over the past few years, downtown Chattanooga has transformed into a haven for beer lovers. Local breweries and taprooms are pouring inventive microbrews, funky sours, and hop-forward IPAs—all with a distinct local flavor. Even better? Chattanooga Brewing Co.

📍 730 Chestnut St. (formerly 1804 Chestnut)

Chattanooga Brewing Co.

Originally founded in 1890 by German immigrant George Reif, this brewery once produced a staggering 150,000 barrels annually before Prohibition shuttered it in 1915. Reawakened in 2010 by homebrewers Mark Marcum and Jonathan Clark, today's Chattanooga Brewing Co. pays tribute to its roots with German-style lagers and ales—like the Munich Helles-inspired Imperial Pilsner and their namesake Chestnut Street Brown Ale, a malt-forward crowd favorite at 6.2% ABV. With a cozy atmosphere inside, exposed brew tanks, and pet‑friendly outdoor seating, it's a relaxed starting point near the Westin and the Bike Chattanooga dock.

> To Odd Story: Head east on Chestnut to MLK Blvd, about 0.8 miles — a ~5-minute ride.

Oddstory Brewing Company + Oddstory Brewing Co.  The Greenhouse

📍 336 E Martin Luther King Blvd

Greenhouse Bar

Launched by a father–son duo, OddStory is known for creative, small-batch beers like the Monkey’s Heart IPA and the sourdough-infused brown ale “Crust.” The main taproom has an industrial-chic vibe, while their second location, The Greenhouse on Main Street, offers a cozy, plant-filled setting with rotating brews in a more relaxed atmosphere. Both spots are popular local hangouts, often featuring live music, community events, and games!

> To Hutton & Smith: Just across the street from OddStory’s main taproom (a 1–2 minute, ~350 ft ride) at 431 E MLK.

Hutton & Smith Brewing Company

📍 431 E Martin Luther King Blvd

Hutton & Smith

Founded by a husband-and-wife team, Hutton & Smith brings a science-meets-craft approach to the Chattanooga beer scene. They're best known for hop-forward favorites like the Igneous IPA and Tectonic Session IPA, but also offer rotating sours and a standout black IPA called Bivouac. The taproom is cozy with roll-up windows, friendly staff, and a laid-back neighborhood vibe. It’s a favorite among local climbers and beer lovers alike, and one of the few spots in town where you can grab a growler to go.

>To WanderLinger: Head south on MLK, then turn left on King St — about a 3-minute ride (0.4 miles) to 1208 King St.

WanderLinger Brewing Company

📍55 Station Street

Wanderlinger

Opened in 2018 by brothers Mike and Chris Dial, WanderLinger blends craft beer with live music, local art, and a welcoming Southside taproom. The brewery offers a wide variety of styles, including West Coast IPAs, traditional lagers, and tart favorites like Blackbeary Hug. They've recently moved their taproom and restaurant into the historic Chattanooga Choo Choo. Whether you're into hops or just hanging out, it’s a great place to end your ride.
